What are meta tags?
Meta tags live inside the <head> of your HTML page, invisible to visitors but read by search engines and social apps. Two of them do the heavy lifting:
- Title tag — the blue clickable headline in Google results and the text on the browser tab. Google weighs it heavily for ranking.
- Meta description — the grey snippet under the headline. It doesn't directly boost rankings, but a tempting description wins the click.
- Open Graph / Twitter Card tags — decide what card appears when your link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook, X or LinkedIn: title, description and image.
Character limits that actually matter (2026)
| Tag | Safe limit | What happens if longer |
|---|---|---|
| Title | ≤ 60 characters | Google cuts it with "…", killing your message |
| Meta description | ≤ 160 characters | Snippet gets truncated mid-sentence |
| OG title | ≤ 60 characters | Social cards crop it on mobile |
| OG image | 1200 × 630 px | Wrong ratio = awkward crops on shares |
Why generate robots.txt too?
A robots.txt file sits at your site's root (like https://yoursite.com/robots.txt) and politely tells crawlers which corners to skip — admin areas, staging folders, search-result pages. It also points crawlers at your sitemap so new pages get discovered faster. Remember: it's a request, not a lock. Never "hide" anything sensitive behind robots.txt alone.

Frequently asked questions
What are meta tags and why do they matter for SEO?
Meta tags are snippets of HTML in a page's <head> that describe the page to search engines and social platforms. The title tag and meta description directly shape how your page looks in Google results — good ones raise click-through rates. Open Graph tags control the preview card when a link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook or X.
How do I add meta tags to my website?
Fill in the fields above, copy the generated code, and paste it inside the <head> section of your HTML page — before the closing </head> tag. Save and re-upload the page. Search engines pick up the new tags on their next crawl.
How long should my meta title and description be?
Keep page titles under 60 characters and meta descriptions under 155–160 characters. Longer text gets cut off with an ellipsis in Google results. The character counters on this tool turn green when you are inside the safe limits.
Are meta keywords still relevant for SEO?
Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for ranking since 2009. It does no harm on small sites, but your time is better spent on a strong title, a compelling description and genuinely useful page content. This tool includes it only as an optional legacy field.
What is a robots.txt file?
robots.txt sits at the root of your site (for example https://mixkhazana.org/robots.txt) and tells search-engine crawlers which pages they may or may not crawl. It can also point crawlers to your sitemap. It is a request, not a security lock — use passwords for anything truly private.
Is my data sent anywhere when I use this generator?
No. Everything runs in your browser — the tags are built with JavaScript on your device and never uploaded. Your titles and descriptions stay yours.
