How to play Word Guess
- Type any 5-letter English word using your keyboard or the on-screen keys, then press Enter.
- 🟩 Green — the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
- 🟨 Yellow — the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot.
- ⬛ Grey — the letter is not in the word at all.
- You have 6 tries. Daily mode gives everyone the same word of the day; Unlimited mode deals a fresh random word every round.
Tips to win more often
- Start with a word that covers common vowels and consonants — raise, audio and adieu are classic openers.
- When a letter turns yellow, move it to a new spot on the next guess instead of repeating its position.
- Grey letters are information too: cross them off your keyboard mentally and never reuse them.
- In Daily mode the word is the same for everyone, so your score is directly comparable with friends — share your emoji grid without spoiling the answer.
Frequently asked questions
Is this word guess game really free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is 100% free with no account, no sign-up and no login wall. You open the page and play instantly.
Is the word list safe for kids?
Yes. Every answer word was hand-picked from plain, everyday English — common nouns, verbs and adjectives a school-age child can read. There are no rude, scary or adult words in the answer list.
Can I play Word Guess offline?
The game is a single self-contained page: the word lists, game logic, keyboard and styling all live in one file. Once the page has loaded, you can keep playing even with a weak or dropped connection.
Is there a daily word, or can I play as much as I want?
Both. Daily mode gives everyone the same 5-letter word of the day, like the original viral puzzle, and your streak counts only daily wins. Unlimited mode picks a fresh random word for every round so you can play endlessly.
Where are my streak and stats stored? Is my data private?
Everything is stored only in your own browser using localStorage — games played, wins, current and max streak, and your guess distribution. Nothing is sent to any server, so your data is completely private.
What do the green, yellow and grey tiles mean?
Green means the letter is in the word and in the right spot. Yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong spot. Grey means the letter is not in the word at all. Duplicated letters are handled carefully: if the answer has one "P", only one of your "P"s can turn green or yellow.
