🌅 Morning & Evening Adhkar Checklist — Free Printable

7 Oct 2026 · 6 min read · Islamic guides

The authentic morning & evening adhkar — Arabic, transliteration, translation, counts and sources — in one page you can actually use: download the free printable checklist below and tick them off every day.

🤲 Why the morning & evening adhkar?

The Prophet ﷺ taught specific remembrances for the start and end of the day — short, powerful phrases of praise, protection and gratitude. They take about ten minutes, need no special place, and turn the bookends of your day into worship. Muslims across Europe fit them into the commute, the lunch break or the minutes before Maghrib — the point is a daily habit, not perfection. Below is the complete checklist: recite what you can, tick the box, and watch the habit grow.

💡 How to build the habit (the realistic way)

  1. Start with two. Ayat al-Kursi + the three Quls take three minutes. Do only these for the first week.
  2. Anchor it. Recite right after Fajr and right after Asr — attach the habit to a prayer you never skip.
  3. Add one per week. Week 2: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100× (use the tasbih counter). Week 3: the protection duas. By month two, the full checklist feels easy.
  4. Tick the boxes. Print the checklist and keep it by your prayer mat — the visual streak is a powerful motivator.
  5. Missed a day? Restart, don't regret. One missed day doesn't erase a month of habit. The door is always open.

All adhkar above are from the Quran and authentic hadith collections (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi). Arabic wording follows the standard printed texts; translations are the writer's own concise renderings. ❓ Frequently asked questions

When should I read the morning and evening adhkar?

The morning adhkar are read between Fajr (dawn prayer) and sunrise — that is the preferred window; they can be read after sunrise if missed. The evening adhkar are read between Asr and Maghrib (sunset) according to the majority view, though some scholars allow from after Dhuhr. The key point is consistency: pick a fixed time you can keep every day.

What should I recite in the morning and evening?

The core authentic adhkar are: Ayat al-Kursi (Quran 2:255) once; Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas three times each; SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100 times; La ilaha illa Allahu wahdahu la sharika lah 100 times; Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'a ismihi shay' three times; Raditu billahi rabban three times; and the Asbahna/Amsayna supplication once. All eight are in the checklist table with Arabic, transliteration and translation.

Do I have to recite ALL of the adhkar, or is a few enough?

You do not have to recite all of them. The morning and evening adhkar are voluntary (sunnah), not obligatory — every authentic dhikr you recite brings its own reward, so reciting even two or three regularly is far better than attempting all eight once and giving up. Start small, make it a daily habit, then add more over the weeks.

If I miss the time, can I still make up the adhkar?

Yes. Scholars say that if you miss the morning adhkar before sunrise or the evening adhkar before Maghrib, you can still recite them afterwards — the reward for remembrance of Allah is not cancelled by missing the ideal window. Recite them when you remember, and try to keep the regular time tomorrow.

Should evening adhkar be recited after Asr or after Maghrib?

The majority of scholars say the evening adhkar begin after Asr prayer and their preferred time ends at Maghrib (sunset). Some scholars permit them after Maghrib too, especially for someone who missed them. If you can manage it, recite them in the quiet minutes between Asr and Maghrib — it takes about ten minutes.
